| The Claud Powell Chamber Orchestra is a ""rehearsal"" orchestra. We don't give public concerts but players find much pleasure in rehearsing, and performing to ourselves, a different set of pieces each term. It's a most rewarding experience. Repertoire ranges from Purcell and Bach to Vaughan Williams and Britten, with due focus on the symphonies of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert. The orchestra derives from the pioneering work of the late Claud Powell, and was conducted by David Stone until 2006 when Sebastian Forbes took over. New players are most welcome, especially strings. | The Old Barn Orchestra (the orchestra for Medway and Maidstone) was founded in 1927 and incorporated with a full constitution the following year. Its name derives from its first meeting place, which was the music room - a converted barn - of Dr Ponder and his family at Abbey Court in Sandling (north of Maidstone). | ||||
