The Adur Concert Band is an adult group and welcomes new members of age 18 and over. We have players of all standards although those who have not reached grade 5 standard may find the music challenging. We play an exciting range of music, including show and film themes, popular standards and special concert band arrangements.

Bacchus is a concert wind band based in the West Kent Area. We concentrate on music specifically written or arranged for symphonic wind band. We rehearse approximately once a fortnight on Wednesday evenings.

Bromley Symphony Orchestra is a large and successful amateur orchestra based in south-east London with a reputation for interesting concerts of almost professional standard. We give four concerts a year at Langley Park Centre for the Performing Arts and occasionally a summer workshop.

We are a lively and well-respected concert band, regularly performing all over the South East in concert halls, bandstands and even in the middle of fields! The band was formed in June 1999 as part of Crawley's Millennium celebrations. The DSO was founded 75 years ago in 1946 as a music appreciation society, and that spirit of a shared experience - listening to and playing popular orchestral works - is still at the core of the Orchestra today. We are mostly amateur players, some teaching professionals, and a few members who make a living from playing, in a variety of contexts. By and large, we create our concert programmes with the musical resources we have 'in-house' but we believe we have a standard to uphold for our loyal audiences and as representatives of the best of Dartford. The Ember Big Band first embarked on their musical voyage of discovery together as a cohesive Big Band in 2010. The Invicta Jazz Orchestra is probably the biggest big band you will ever see. Based in Kent, they perform both locally and further afield, recently touring to France and The Netherlands, in addition to raising money for their chosen annual charity. Their style and their music are infectious, and audiences have often been seen dancing in the streets, with their variety of swing, jazz, funk and rock. A talented group of musicians who love what they play and love to perform.

We aim to offer players of roughly grade 8 standard plus the chance to play challenging, approachable and interesting original repertoire for symphonic winds. We normally field a band of 50 players but are always interested to find new people to join our pool of performers. There is no charge and commitment is date by date.

LGB Brass is an active Brass Band undertaking a sensible mix of concerts and contest engagements, the band are nationally graded as second section from 2014. We are a long standing friendly Sussex dance/swing/sing era band. We started with a traditional 5/4/4/4 format and now have extra parts and clarinets. We rehearse in Newhaven most thursday evenings. Founded in 2014, the National Youth Harp Orchestra of Great Britain numbers up to 30 harpists of all ages, although predominantly harp players aged 8 to 18, based in the South East of England. To make it more accessible to players from all over the UK rehearsals are predominately held on a Sunday approximately twice a term; there are also occasional Friday rehearsals three or four times a year before important events or concerts. The Maidstone & Medway Sinfonia was founded in 1927 as the Old Barn Orchestral Society and incorporated with a full constitution the following year. Its original name derives from its first meeting place, which was the music room - a converted barn - of Dr Ponder and his family at Abbey Court in Sandling (north of Maidstone).

The Orpington Band was founded in 1925 and provides a unique combination of nurturing beginners and providing a platform for more experienced players to perform together. Originally established as the Orpington Silver Band playing marching and other brass band repertoires, it now plays a wide selection of music from old classics to modern pop and film music.

We are a friendly orchestra in our 72nd season, containing semi-professionals, teachers and keen amateurs. We perform three concerts a year of popular and lesser known classical works. Oxted Band is a friendly brass band, established in 1901, and playing at various events both around Oxted and further afield around the South East, both indoor concerts and various outdoor events. We also have an enthusiastic training band for those not yet ready to play in the band. Enquiries from brass/percussion players or those looking to start always welcome!

Peninsula Big Band (PBB) have been running for over 15 years, playing modern and traditional big band music. Regular gigs have included Chatham food and drink festival, Hoo church and Dobbies.

The Redhill Sinfonia is one of the oldest amateur orchestras in the country. Established in 1891 under the name of “Redhill Society of Instrumentalists”, during its long history it has been associated with many famous names, including Ralph Vaughan Williams and Gordon Jacob who were both Presidents of the orchestra. The orchestra performs three well-attended concerts of varied repertoire each year, in Reigate and Redhill. Key to the orchestra’s continued success, popularity and high standard are the skill and enthusiasm of its professional conductor John Beswick and leader David Burton. We always welcome applications from new members of at least grade 8 standard or equivalent, especially strings and brass. We also offer free Scholarship places to school-age string players who are at or working towards grade 8. We rehearse on Monday evenings during term time, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

We are a small, friendly group who meet every Thursday afternoons We are temporarily based at St. Mary's Church Hall, as the Ripley Village Hall has been demolished. We would welcome more string players, particularly violins and violas. Good sight-reading practice, no concerts, no pressure.

We are a friendly big band rehearsing on Monday evenings at Kingswood Village Club (KT20) from 8pm to 10 pm. There is plenty of free parking. From Territorial Army Band origins in the 1960s the band has developed to be an active community band which still maintains some ex military connections. We perform regular concerts at the club and outside including Eastbourne Bandstand. The band has an extensive music library which is constantly being enlarged. We welcome enquiries from new players in particular of the Bassoon,French Horn, Tuba, Euphonium, Trombones, Bass trombone, Drum Kit, Timpani and Eb Clarinet .

Founded in 1922, the RTWSO presents a season of six concerts each year at the Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells, during the period from October to April. It is made up from a core group of gifted local musicians whose ranks are augment by a number of professionals. Together they play to a high standard.

The Sevenoaks and Tonbridge Concert Band is a symphonic wind band based in Sevenoaks, Kent, but with its players drawn from a wide area. With a busy schedule of performances at different venues across the region, our repertoire ranges from original works for wind ensemble to arrangements of orchestral pieces, military band items and light music of various styles.

The Sevenoaks and Tonbridge Training Band welcomes members of any age who are learning to play wind or percussion instruments, or are returning to music after a break. Music ranges from classical and show medleys through to jazz, swing and pop genres. The band gives at least one public indoor concert each year and performs at local outdoor events at a variety of venues in the summer.

Sidcup Symphony Orchestra performs five full concert programmes per season, with professional music director and leader, and other events in partnership with Bird College and Bexley Music Service. Current season highlights include Tchaikovsky 6, Shostakovich 5, Scuhbert 9, Prokofiev 1st Violin Concerto, Rachmaninov 3rd Piano Concerto, Mozart Sinfonia Concertante and works by Bizet, Chausson, Debussy and Vaughan Williams. This popular and busy Band,founded in 1979, undertakes a variety of engagements throughout the South East of England, ranging from local bandstand performances to indoor concerts, and from weddings to company functions. We are the Snowdown Colliery Welfare Band, a traditional colliery brass band founded in 1928 and based in the heart of the Kent coal fields. We are a friendly and sociable band with 30ish players of mixed ages and abilities. We play a wide variety of genres of music from traditional brass band marches, overtures, descriptive pieces through to popular TV and Film themes. We perform throughout the year on Kentish towns bandstands, in churches, village fetes and fayres and have even played on London's prestigious Hyde Park Bandstand. We are always looking for more players to join us.

Formed in April 2012, this new orchestra is ideal for musicians who live in and around the areas of Beckenham, Bromley, Catford, Croydon, Crystal Palace, Elmers End, Forest Hill, Norwood, Penge and Sydenham. Growing fast and welcoming enquiries from all orchestral players.

SWSCB is a Surrey Arts Youth Ensemble. It is formed of woodwind, brass and percussion players aged 8 to 18. We rehearse on Saturday mornings during term-time and enjoy making some great music.

The Southdowns Concert Band is a group of about 30 musicians who play regular concerts all over Sussex. We pride ourselves on high performance standards and achieve this by having a grade 6 minimum standard for players.

Staplehurst Music Centre Chamber Group welcomes players of all ages - adults and children over 8 years - and all abilities, particularly if you are a Late-Starter, a re-Starter or a Recent Beginner (one year's experience of playing). All instruments welcome - but we especially need string players.

Now in its 70th season, Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra caters for talented young musicians aged 8 to 18 in South-West London and Surrey. We have a Training Orchestra for grades 4-6 and a Main Orchestra for grades 6-8 and perform 3 concerts a year at leading London venues as well as undertaking an annual Tour in July. Surrey Brass, the innovative and entertaining brass ensemble, was formed in 2011 and since then performed a wide range of concerts including music commissioned to accompany silent films, music commissioned to celebrate concorde, film music, an all-Russian programme, an all-Gothic programme, and more. Our 'Brass Massive' education programme in association with local schools attracts young players to experience musical performance.

A chamber orchestra based in the Guildford area of Surrey. Our players are made up of music teachers and experienced amateurs, and we perform a wide range of repertoire. We put on 5 concerts a year, and would be pleased to hear from any violinists and viola players who are interested in joining our friendly orchestra.

We are a friendly orchestra and are currently looking for new members to join who are Grade VIII standard or above, and in particular, strings, and trumpets.

The Band of the Surrey Yeomanry is an amateur concert band. We play a wide range of music from Holst and Vaughan Williams to show tunes and swing and perform in about 15 concerts per year (see our full 2017 diary at our website). We’re currently actively recruiting for drummers/percussionists and trumpet players, but welcome inquiries about all instruments.

The Sussex Band of The Royal British Legion ( Horsham) is a Concert Band consisting of woodwind, brass and percussion. We also take part in parades and carnivals but please note we do not do marching displays. The band also has a Dance band made up from members of the main concert band.

We are a symphony orchestra made up of local professional musicians and teachers, plus talented amateur musicians. We also try to include local young people who have reached a high standard in their playing. We do 2 or 3 concerts per year in the Hastings/Bexhill area and are always keen to welcome enthusiastic and committed new players.

A new String Orchestra based in Eastbourne. We do two concerts a year, always for charity, and start rehearsing three weeks before a concert. The Sussex Symphony Orchestra has been bringing live music to Sussex audiences for over 20 years. The SSO is a friendly, sociable mixture of professional and amateur musicians who live and work in Sussex. We perform a minimum of five concerts per year in Brighton and across Sussex. We are always keen to welcome new violin, viola, cello, woodwind and French horns. We rehearse on specific dates throughout the year - usually one full Sunday, a Thursday evening and then Saturday concert day rehearsal. We ask that any new players are at least grade 8 standard with orchestral experience.

Sutton Symphony Orchestra (SSO) is an amateur orchestra which aims to provide the opportunity for players of a reasonable standard to experience rehearsing and performing works from the orchestral repertoire. SSO believes making music should be fun but challenging. The Orchestra performs three major public concerts per year within the London Borough of Sutton.

Members of all ages and abilities welcome. Our current members are aged 8 – 80+.

With over 40 instrumentalists and 100 singers, Tonbridge Philharmonic Society is an established and well-respected part of musical life in Kent under the Musical Directorship of Naomi Butcher. We have been performing high-quality music in Tonbridge since the society was formed in 1946. The orchestra was formed in 1958 and we remain to this day one of the few societies comprising both chorus and orchestra.

Uckfield Concert Brass have a high profile in our community performing with local groups and soloists undertaking many prestigious concerts throughout the year in Uckfield and beyond. Our focus is putting on high calibre and innovative concerts, for example ‘Proms on the Pitch’ even contemporary dance. The band have undertaken several tours abroad most recently to Arques-la-Bataille and Chef Boutonne in France and the Menem Gate in Belgium. We welcome new players of all abilities to come along.

We always welcome new players for all brass, age isn't a problem - our youngest full band member is 13, while our oldest is - well pretty old. We have no auditions and no minimum grades - the aim is to enjoy playing together, generally have fun and to maintain the brass band tradition in our beautiful West Sussex corner of rural England.

We play five concerts a year in the fantastic acoustics of the Worthing Assembly Hall We perform a varied and appealing variety of orchestral works and often joining with choirs in the area to perform large scale choral works. We are always pleased to hear from players, particularly string players, who might be interested in joining.

Everyone at WSB is proud of our reputation as being an extremely friendly and sociable band. The players consist of mixed ages and abilities and everyone is welcome. We play a wide variety of music from a selection of genres and the enjoy playing at concerts throughout the year. We are looking for more players to join us especially cornets and basses!

We are essentially a teaching group for junior string players (both children and adults) of approximate standard Grades 2-5, with some very welcome help from a number of more experienced players. We present a Carol Evening at Christmas, play in local music festivals and give Summer Concerts. New members are always welcome.

Our repertoire is very varied, but includes baroque concertos - we have a harpsichord continuo - as well as classical symphonies, and any later works for strings - Tchaikowsky/Dvorak/Elgar Serenades, pieces by Ireland, Warlock, Elgar, Bartok, Britten, Poulenc and a host of other composers, often arranged specially by Howard for strings. We are all keen to encourage young players to join us to explore the fantastic string repertoire, and have seen many youngsters go on to train and play professionally, whilst others simply enjoy making music together as amateurs. Once a year we have a free Family Concert, which includes an opportunity for a younger player to play solo. We don't have auditions so folk can join us at any time but they would need to be grade 5 upwards and be happy to do a lot of sight-reading.
